In collaboration with Cynthia Gonzalez we set out to play with clay. Both of us are deeply invested in making with clay and a feeling we share is just how much we enjoying playing with clay. This series began with PLAY a video performance installations that is a absurdist, immersive, explorative of the weightand feel of clay. More recently, PLAY: Build Joy Cope Unite Act was developed as an immersive video installation exploring the tactile joy of clay and the expressive potential of color. The installation captures the fluidity of creation through a dynamic interplay of improvised performance, vibrant clown make-up, and colorful clay alongside sculpted reflective objects, Radiant Ooze. The work is an interplay between materiality, performativity, and play as a solution, inviting viewers to engage with the transformative ideation of the making process. The installation dissolves the divide between digital projection and physical space, layering video and sculpture to mimic and reflect each other, inspire wonder, and invite people into the exploration.
